Where Is The Griffin FF16 Location And How To Defeat It
Tracking down notorious marks in Final Fantasy 16 provides players with excellent opportunities to claim rare crafting materials and substantial amounts of experience points. One of the early roadblocks many adventurers face is tracking down the elusive griffin known as Dozmare. Finding this B-rank beast requires a bit of detective work and active quest progression before the beast will even show its face in Valisthea.
How to Unlock and Locate the Dozmare Griffin
Before you start exploring the wilderness, you must unlock the side quest titled Blacksmith's Blues in the Hideaway. Once active, your journey leads to the local Hunt Board where vague clues mention sightings around the Caer Norvent area. The description can be confusing because the specific fast travel obelisk will not place you next to the creature.
To pinpoint the monster, you should teleport directly to the Lostwing waypoint instead. From the village, follow the southern pathway that cuts through the mountains and opens up into the Norvent Valley. Follow this road all the way to its southeastern termination near the River Gate where Clive will trigger the combat encounter.
Combat Strategies for Besting the Winged Beast
Dozmare relies on its high mobility, combining lightning-fast lunges from the earth and aggressive aerial dives to catch players off guard. Equipping the Berserker Ring before the confrontation is highly recommended because it rewards your precision dodges with sudden bursts of increased damage output. It is crucial to stay light on your feet and avoid overcommitting to long combos while the creature is actively flying around.
Garuda abilities are incredibly effective during this encounter for reducing the monster's stagger bar. Utilizing skills like Aerial Blast allows you to safely track the creature across the battlefield while maintaining a defensive posture. Once you manage to fully drain its stance and send it crashing down, unleash Clive's Limit Break to deal massive punishment while the beast remains stationary.
Surviving the Enraged Phase and Collecting Rewards
As the griffin's health starts to deplete, it will introduce a dangerous new attack strategy known as the Noble Dive. This special maneuver acts like its standard aerial slam but generates a powerful wind shockwave upon impact. You must time your jumps perfectly to clear the expanding shockwave or move far out of the blast zone entirely.
Additionally, keep an eye out for its specialized wind projectiles which leave hazardous lingering tornadoes on the battlefield. Defeating this creature allows you to speak with the nearby injured NPC and advance the blacksmith's storyline. Your hard work ultimately rewards you with a rare design pattern needed to craft the highly valuable Drakeslayer's Belt.
