Elden Ring Altus Plateau Map Location And Routes To Reach It
Navigating the expansive Lands Between in Elden Ring often leads players to pivotal mid-game regions that dictate story progression. The Altus Plateau sits at a vital geographical crossroads, acting as the gateway to the Royal Capital of Leyndell and the perilous Mount Gelmir. Understanding how to locate the area and choosing the right route to enter it will save Tarnished adventurers considerable time and effort.
Where Is the Altus Plateau Located on the Map?
The Altus Plateau is situated directly north of Liurnia of the Lakes and west of the Capital Outskirts. Its golden landscapes stand out clearly on the overarching map once unlocked, surrounding the base of the Great Erdtree. Finding the specific map fragment near the Altus Highway Junction site of grace will fully illuminate the primary roads and terrain.
Taking the Grand Lift of Dectus
The most straightforward method to enter the region is by activating the Grand Lift of Dectus located at the northern edge of Liurnia. To operate this massive lift, players must collect both halves of the Dectus Medallion from Fort Haight and Fort Faroth. Hoisting the completed medallion triggers a grand mechanism that transports players straight into the plateau.
Ascending Through the Ruin-Strewn Precipice
For players who prefer avoiding high-level areas to find medallion pieces, a dungeon route offers an alternative path. By following the northern ravine in the waters of Liurnia, you can ascend ladders and lifts through the Ruin-Strewn Precipice. Defeating the boss Magma Wyrm Makar at the top grants direct access to the outer reaches of the plateau.
Secret Traversal via the Raya Lucaria Abductor
A lesser-known third route involves getting captured by a specific mechanical enemy at the bottom of Raya Lucaria Academy. Allowing the Abductor Virgin to defeat you inside its iron chest teleports your character directly into subterranean Volcano Manor. Defeating the dual boss inside this hidden zone allows you to exit straight onto the high ground of the Altus region.
