Navigating the rich world of Divinity: Original Sin 2 often leads players into intricate side quests that offer valuable rewards and intriguing moral choices. One such quest is A Taste of Freedom, which takes place in the bustling region of Driftwood. Completing this quest requires finding hidden chambers, solving pressure plate puzzles, and deciding the fate of a trapped entity.

Starting the Quest in Driftwood

To begin this quest, head into the abandoned house located in Driftwood across from the local fishery. Inside, explore the cellar to discover a secret mechanism hidden behind an ornate skull. High perception or specific quest items from Mordus' chest will help reveal the pathway leading deeper underground.

Solving the Basement Puzzle

Once inside the secret hatch, you will encounter a room filled with floor pressure plates. Activating the correct sequence opens the heavy door leading to the final chamber. Using Spirit Vision reveals helpful clues on how to align the switches correctly to avoid triggering unwanted traps.

Confronting the Desiccated Undead

Beyond the puzzle door lies an ancient Lich strapped to an apparatus. Interacting with the console gives you the choice to free the creature or leave it imprisoned. Releasing the entity initiates a combat encounter against hostile skeletons, where the freed Lich can assist your party.

Choosing the Lich's Fate

After the initial battle, you must decide how to handle the creature's hunger for Source. Letting the Lich feast or feeding it your own Source leads to further encounters outside Driftwood. Alternatively, ending its life immediately yields combat rewards and closes out the questline cleanly.
